Tantalus Media, the studio behind acclaimed Nintendo remasters like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Skyward Sword HD, is revealed as the developer of the upcoming Luigi's Mansion 2 HD for Nintendo Switch. The original Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, released on the Nintendo 3DS, was developed by Next Level Games. This new HD version, announced last September during a Nintendo Direct and slated for release on June 27th, marks a continuation of Nintendo's trend of high-quality remasters.

Recent reports from VGC confirm Tantalus Media's involvement, citing the game's credits. This Australian studio boasts an impressive portfolio, including the Nintendo Switch port of Sonic Mania and contributions to the Age of Empires Definitive Editions. The developer's identity remained a secret until shortly before launch, mirroring Nintendo's previous practice of withholding such information for titles like the Super Mario RPG remake.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD has garnered positive early reviews, praised as another successful Nintendo remaster in the vein of Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. However, the game has experienced pre-order issues similar to Paper Mario, with Walmart canceling some orders.

Despite these minor setbacks, the confirmation of Tantalus Media as the developer solidifies expectations for a high-quality remake just days before its launch. The mystery surrounding the developer of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Fury continues, suggesting Nintendo may maintain this strategy for future releases.
