Lionsgate's Monopoly Movie to Get Screenplay From Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Writers

Lionsgate's upcoming Monopoly movie has found its writers in John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the creative duo behind the successful Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Daley and Goldstein will pen the screenplay for this adaptation of Hasbro's iconic board game. Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment will produce.

Daley and Goldstein's credits extend beyond Honor Among Thieves, encompassing their original film Mayday, as well as contributions to The Flash and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The Monopoly movie has a long and winding history, with previous attempts dating back to 2007 when Ridley Scott expressed interest. Later iterations involved screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (2011), Andrew Niccol (2015), and even Kevin Hart and Tim Story (2019). However, Lionsgate's acquisition of eOne from Hasbro appears to have revitalized the project, leading to this latest development. Let's hope this version finally makes it past "Go."
