Nine Inch Nails Creators Win Golden Globe, Score Naughty Dog's Intergalactic

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the musical minds behind the upcoming Naughty Dog game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive list of achievements: a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. Their award-winning composition was for Luca Guadagnino's film Challengers.

The recent Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet trailer showcased a preview of Reznor and Ross's work, alongside licensed music featured in the game. Known for their enduring collaboration with Nine Inch Nails (which Reznor founded in 1988), the duo have a history of creating critically acclaimed scores for films directed by prominent figures such as David Fincher and Pete Docter. Their previous awards include an Academy Award for Best Original Score for both The Social Network and Soul, along with multiple Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also previously composed the soundtrack for the 1996 video game Quake and the main title theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Accepting their Golden Globe award for the romantic sports drama Challengers from presenters Elton John and Brandi Carlile, Ross commented on the score's unique approach: "The music that revealed itself as the voice of Challengers never felt like a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." The dynamic electronic score perfectly complements the film's edgy athleticism and sensual themes. Given their current creative peak, the Intergalactic soundtrack is poised to become a landmark achievement in video game music.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's Golden Globe Win Highlights Intergalactic

While the creators of Nine Inch Nails' intense industrial rock might seem an unconventional choice for game and film scores, Reznor and Ross have consistently demonstrated remarkable versatility. Their work ranges from the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal beauty of Soul, and now, the mysterious soundscape of Naughty Dog's space exploration title. With online hints suggesting a horror element in Intergalactic, the selection of Reznor and Ross as composers seems particularly fitting.

The Golden Globe win will undoubtedly amplify anticipation for Intergalactic, potentially a significant departure for Naughty Dog. Given their impeccable track record, the game's soundtrack promises to be a captivating auditory experience, regardless of the final game content.
