Forza Horizon 5, Xbox's acclaimed racing title, is making its way to PlayStation!
Playground Games' surprise announcement confirms the arrival of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 this spring. This follows the trend of Xbox exclusives launching on PlayStation, mirroring the releases of Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Developed by Panic Button in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, the PS5 version will boast identical content to its Xbox and PC counterparts. This includes all car packs and expansions, such as Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure.
This strategic move reflects Xbox's expanding interest in multi-platform releases, encompassing PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Xbox head Phil Spencer has publicly endorsed support for the upcoming Switch 2.
Recent financial reports from Microsoft shed light on this decision. While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle achieved 4 million players, and PC Game Pass saw a 30% surge, boosting services revenue by 2%, overall gaming revenue declined due to a nearly 30% drop in console sales. This downturn might be influencing Xbox's focus on Game Pass and broader hardware compatibility.
Forza Horizon 5 continues the celebrated open-world racing series. Leaning slightly more towards arcade-style gameplay than its simulation-focused sibling, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon 5 invites players to race and explore the stunning landscapes of Mexico.
