Eerie Worlds: A Thrilling Tactical CCG Featuring Global Folklore Monsters
Rifts are usually trouble, but Avid Games has embraced the chaos in their highly anticipated game, Eerie Worlds, the successor to Cards, the Universe and Everything. This tactical CCG plunges players into a world of monsters emerging from these rifts, offering a blend of fun and learning.
Avid Games has crafted a visually stunning roster of monsters, each inspired by real-world horrors from diverse mythologies and folklore.
The game boasts an impressive collection of creatures, encompassing Japanese Yokai (like Jikininki and Kuchisake), Slavic monsters (such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav), and a host of other chilling beings from Bigfoot and Mothman to El Chupacabra. Each card includes detailed, researched descriptions, enhancing the gameplay experience with educational elements.
Eerie Worlds features four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes, adding significant tactical depth. Monsters may share some properties but differ in others, creating strategic complexity.
Players build their monster collection, known as a Grimoire, by merging duplicate cards. The game starts with 160 basic cards, but merging unlocks many more, with additional cards planned for the near future.
Avid Games plans to release two more Hordes in the coming months, ensuring continued engagement and replayability.
Gameplay involves a deck of nine monster cards and one world card, played over nine 30-second turns. Strategic choices around mana management and synergy exploitation are key to victory.
