Pocket Gamer recently discovered Dynabytes' Fantasma at Gamescom Latam – a multiplayer augmented reality (AR) GPS adventure game. This exciting title recently received an update adding Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese language support, with German, Italian, and Spanish planned for release in the coming months.
But what is Fantasma all about? Players hunt and battle mischievous creatures using portable electromagnetic fields as bait. Combat takes place in augmented reality, requiring players to maneuver their phones to keep the Fantasmas in view while tapping the screen to fire projectiles. Defeated creatures are then captured in special bottles.
Fantasmas appear based on real-world location, encouraging exploration. Players can also deploy sensors to expand their search radius and team up with others for a collaborative experience.
