EA to Shut Down

EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is closing its doors. After a twelve-year run, starting on the App Store in 2012 and Google Play in 2013, the game will be sunsetted by Electronic Arts.

Shutdown Timeline:

In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. However, existing players can continue playing until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will be permanently shut down. EA expressed gratitude to its players for their decade-long support of this Simpsons and Disney collaboration.

One Last Chance to Build Your Springfield?

For those who haven't experienced the game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out offers a unique city-building experience. Players rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown, managing iconic characters like Marge, Lisa, Bart, and even Fat Tony. Customize Springfield to your liking, expand to Springfield Heights, and even run Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.

The freemium game frequently included updates mirroring Simpsons storylines and real-world holidays. While the game is free, "donuts" serve as the in-game currency driving progression.
