In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside powerful warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains the faction selection process.
Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters have you, the Wanderer, acting as a neutral party, assisting Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei in various battles, including pivotal events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. However, Chapter 3 introduces a turning point: you must pledge your loyalty to one of the three factions.
Before making your choice, you'll have opportunities to learn more about each faction. The game presents a series of missions for each: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission where you must choose your allegiance. Only factions whose missions you've completed will be selectable. For example, completing Cao Cao's missions first restricts your choice to either Cao Cao or Liu Bei (unless you complete Liu Bei's missions). You can, of course, complete all faction missions before committing.
Your decision is permanent. Once you choose a faction, the others become inaccessible. You'll lose access to side quests from the unchosen factions, and your bond with their officers will remain stagnant. This can impact gameplay difficulty; for instance, allying with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and skill point earning opportunities from side quests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, create a save file *before* choosing a faction to replay the game with different allegiances.
That's how you choose a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
