Don't Starve Together's Mobile Debut: No Netflix, But Coming to iOS and Android!
Following a period of silence since the June 2024 announcement of Don't Starve Together's arrival on Netflix Games, we have an update. While the title will not be launching on Netflix, the good news is that it's still coming to mobile devices!
Playdigious and Klei Entertainment are collaborating to bring the Tim Burton-esque survival experience to iOS and Android. Stranded on a hostile island, players must gather resources and survive as quirky characters – the key is to not starve.
Initially planned as a Netflix Games exclusive, Don't Starve Together will now have a global release on Google Play and the iOS App Store. Although a specific release date remains unannounced, both developers assure us one is forthcoming.
Netflix Deal Dissolved
It appears Don't Starve Together's exclusivity agreement with Netflix has ended. While a global mobile launch is positive, this, along with other indie titles' departure from the service (like Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon), raises questions about Netflix Games' future commitment to indie developers.
Don't Starve's significant influence in the survival genre makes its absence from Netflix notable. This raises concerns about the prospects for other indie games on the platform. Netflix's indie game selection has been a significant draw, and its potential decline is regrettable.
