These pink porkers populate common biomes: Meadows (ideal pasture), Forests, and Plains (a pig paradise). They typically spawn in groups of 2-4. Village farms sometimes house pigs as well.

What Do Pigs Eat in Minecraft?

Carrots, potatoes, or beetroots are the key to pig breeding. Simply hold one, and you'll become the center of attention for any nearby pigs. Feeding two pigs these root vegetables initiates breeding, resulting in a piglet that matures into an adult within 10 minutes.

How to Breed Pigs in Minecraft?

While not tamable like cats or wolves, pigs can be ridden. This requires a saddle (found in chests within dungeons, temples, or strongholds, or traded with villagers) and a carrot on a stick:

1. Craft a fishing rod (3 sticks, 2 string).
2. Combine the fishing rod with a carrot at a crafting table to create a carrot on a stick.





3. Find a pig, saddle it, and hold the carrot on a stick to control its movement.





4. Build a pen (fences or a pit) to contain your pigs.



5. Lead at least two pigs into the pen using carrots.





6. Feed them carrots, potatoes, or beetroots to breed them.



7. Wait 10 minutes for the piglet to grow (feeding accelerates growth).
