Picking Up the “Canker” Side Quest
To begin, speak with Gules in Semine. Conveniently, you can initiate this quest during Lord Semine and Agnes’ wedding, while Gules is enjoying a drink. Alternatively, you can find him on patrol in Semine. Simply ask about his former bandit gang and offer your assistance in eliminating them. Canker is your first target.
Finding and Killing Canker
Accepting the quest marks Canker’s location on your map, north of Nebakov Mill. Be prepared for potential ambushes from bandits along the path. You can choose stealth, combat, or a hasty retreat. While individual bandits aren't overly challenging, repeated skirmishes can drain your health before the main encounter.
Canker’s hideout is nestled within the mountains, easily missed due to a narrow passage. Prepare for battle before entering, as you'll face several bandits alongside Canker. Some bandits might flee depending on the kill order, but eliminating most is necessary for quest completion. Canker himself, however, will not run.
Completing the Quest and Returning to Gules
After defeating Canker and the bandits, loot Canker’s body. You must obtain the Light Mace, though other loot is yours for the taking. Return to Gules with the mace to complete the quest.
Following “Canker,” you must wait a full in-game day before starting the next quest in this series, “Handsome Charlie.” After the day passes, speak with Gules to proceed.
