Fans of The Last of Us were recently left reeling after Neil Druckmann hinted at a potential hiatus for the franchise. However, a flicker of hope ignited with insider Daniel Richtman's claim that a new installment is not only in development but has already begun filming, with actors already cast.

Considering Druckmann's previously ambiguous statement regarding a future The Last of Us game, Richtman's rumor might hold some weight. Druckmann's "no next The Last of Us" comment could have referred to a sequel already underway. Furthermore, he's employed similar tactics before, downplaying expectations prior to the announcement of Part II. However, it's worth noting that Richtman has a history of inaccurate leaks.
Despite this uncertainty, the existence of at least a concept for the next game is confirmed. Any official announcements, however, might be delayed to avoid overshadowing Naughty Dog's upcoming new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
