Celebrate the Feast in WoW with New Lore Details

World of Warcraft's Feast of Winter Veil: A Lore-Filled Holiday Celebration

The annual World of Warcraft Feast of Winter Veil, a festive in-game event mirroring Christmas, returns with fresh rewards and activities. This year's celebration includes new collectible items, gold, and other surprises.

A newly released lore video, a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, delves into the rich history of Winter Veil in Azeroth. The video explores the holiday's origins, weaving together the Dwarven myth of Greatfather Winter (a Titan-forged giant), Tauren traditions of spiritual renewal, and the modern commercialization by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.

A History Steeped in Tradition (and Kidnappings!)

The video wouldn't be complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Warcraft creative director Chris Metzen. This unfortunate reindeer has a history of being kidnapped – three times, to be exact – by pirates, Dark Iron Dwarves, and even the Grinch! The video concludes with a humorous thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's iconic tone (fittingly, as Thrall is also voiced by Chris Metzen).

This collaboration marks another successful partnership between World of Warcraft and PlatinumWoW, who has previously created lore videos on topics ranging from Nerubians and Vrykul to World Trees and Blackrock Depths. Blizzard's recent collaborations with content creators, including Taliesin & Evitel and Hurricane, demonstrate a commitment to enriching the player experience.

Join the Festivities!

Players can still participate in the Feast of Winter Veil until January 5th, 2024. This year's highlights include a tamable Dreaming Festive Reindeer for Hunters, new holiday transmogs, the Grunch pet, and a special gift waiting under the tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind. Don't miss out on the fun!
