In 2025, World of Warcraft players can look forward to the much-anticipated introduction of a housing system, as Blizzard has unveiled the initial details. The developers have committed to making homes accessible to all players, free from complex prerequisites, exorbitant costs, or lottery systems. Moreover, players won't lose their homes if they lapse on their subscription. The housing feature is set to fully launch with the Midnight expansion.
Upon launch, players will have the option to select their plot in one of two distinct zones: those aligned with the Alliance can choose Elwynn Forest, which will include elements from Westfall and Duskwood, while Horde players will have access to Durotar, featuring elements from Azshara and the Durotar coastline.
Each zone will be segmented into districts, hosting approximately 50 houses each. Players can opt to settle in an open area or join a private community with friends and guildmates. Blizzard promises an extensive range of decoration options for personalizing your home—most of which will be obtainable in-game, with some exclusive items available in the shop.
The core of the housing system revolves around three key principles: extensive customization, fostering social interactions, and ensuring long-term engagement. Blizzard plans to release more details about the housing system in the future and encourages the community to share their feedback and ideas in the meantime.
