Blackroot Location in Divinity Original Sin 2 Revealed

Quick Links

In the expansive world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the Blackroot stands out as a crucial herb, especially when you reach the fourth act and need to perform the Miester's Ritual. Under the guidance of Miester Siva, you'll craft a special Ritual Bowl using a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and the elusive Blackroot. This concoction grants you access to the Hall of Echoes and the invaluable Night Vision skill.

The first ritual is straightforward, with all ingredients conveniently located in Siva's basement. However, subsequent rituals require you to source these items yourself. While obtaining a ritual bowl and obsidian lancet is relatively easy, finding Blackroot can be a challenge. If you're struggling to locate this vital herb, this guide is here to assist.

Venture Into Cloisterwood

Cloisterwood, a dense forest in the northwestern part of Reaper's Coast, is just a short journey north of Driftwood. Once you're immersed in the forest, press and hold the left ALT key to reveal all nearby items.

You'll soon notice various herbs, including Blackroots, scattered at the base of trees. Although you only need one Blackroot for the ritual, it's wise to gather a few more as a precaution. This guide avoids spoilers regarding the number of rituals you'll need to perform, but remember, you can undertake the ritual each time you gain a Source point.

Cloisterwood Exploration Tips

Cloisterwood is brimming with secrets, from NPCs that can help you earn Source points to an undead trader and a formidable witch. Hannag and Jahan are two NPCs who can assist you in acquiring Source points, with Jahan also playing a role in Lohse's storyline. Hidden within some ruins, you'll find Eithne, the undead trader. Engage with her and select the "Divine Order" option to unlock a side quest.

Further north in Cloisterwood, you'll encounter a pier with the Dead Ferryman NPC, who can transport you to Bloodmoon Island. These are just a few of the intriguing characters you'll meet in Cloisterwood. The forest also holds other secrets, such as the Wrecker's Cave and the chance to acquire a unique loremaster amulet by conversing with a ship captain's spirit. If you're exploring Cloisterwood for the first time, take the time to thoroughly investigate the area. It's recommended to steer clear of the crucified witch Alice Alisceon until you reach at least level 15.
