Beloved Square Enix RPG Reemerges on Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

RPG fans can celebrate! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed Square Enix title, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. This follows a recent acquisition of publishing rights by Square Enix from Nintendo, a possible explanation for the brief delisting.

Nintendo Switch owners can now purchase and download Triangle Strategy from the eShop. The game's return ends a several-day absence, much to the delight of fans.

Triangle Strategy is lauded for its revival of classic tactical RPG gameplay, reminiscent of titles like Fire Emblem. The strategic unit placement and combat mechanics have earned it significant praise.

Square Enix confirmed the game's return to the eShop via Twitter. While no official reason was given for the initial delisting, speculation points to the recent publishing rights transfer from Nintendo to Square Enix.

A Brief but Swift Return

This isn't the first time a Square Enix game has been temporarily removed from the eShop. Octopath Traveler experienced a similar situation last year, but its absence lasted considerably longer. Triangle Strategy's return after only four days is a welcome contrast.

The game's reappearance strengthens the positive relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This collaboration is evident in past releases, including the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the Switch-exclusive release of Dragon Quest 11. While Square Enix has broadened its release platforms over time, its history of console exclusives, dating back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES, and continuing with titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive), underscores this ongoing trend.
