Ponos Celebrates 12 Years of The Battle Cats with a Sengoku-Era Ad Campaign

The Battle Cats, a mobile tower defense game known for its quirky cast of ninja cats, fish cats, and even a "Gross Cat," is celebrating its 12th anniversary. This enduring popularity has prompted developer Ponos to launch a new advertising campaign set in Japan's Sengoku period.

The campaign, titled "The Way of the Cat," blends the historical setting's artistic and strategic elements with the game's signature humor. Think tactical battles interspersed with shots of oddly appealing cat food cans. The commercials, developed in partnership with R/GA, are described as cinematic and engaging, promising to entice players to "be the cat, become the cat."

Ponos' COO and Managing Director, Seiichiro Sano, stated, "As we celebrate 12 years of The Battle Cats, we’re excited to challenge perceptions and showcase the game’s strategic depth. This collaboration with R/GA honours our heritage while inviting new players to experience the thrill of tactical gameplay in a fresh way."
