Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded by the game and art directors of The Witcher 3, has secured a publishing deal with Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher behind Elden Ring. This partnership was announced at the beginning of the week, marking Bandai as the global publisher for Rebel Wolves' upcoming debut title in the “Dawnwalker” Action RPG saga, set to launch in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox.

Dawnwalker is a story-driven AAA action-RPG set in medieval Europe, infused with dark fantasy elements tailored for mature audiences. Rebel Wolves, established in 2022 in Warsaw, Poland, is poised to elevate the RPG genre with its narrative-focused approach. The studio promises more details about Dawnwalker in the coming months.

"Rebel Wolves is a new studio built on a strong foundation of experience and fresh energy. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, known for its commitment to the role-playing genre and its openness to new IPs, is the ideal partner for our team," said Tomasz Tinc, Rebel Wolves' chief publishing officer, in a press release. "They not only share our values but also have a proven track record in publishing narrative-driven RPGs. We are excited to collaborate with them to bring the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga to gamers around the world."

Bandai Namco views Dawnwalker as a valuable addition to its game portfolio. Alberto Gonzalez Lorca, the company's VP of business development, remarked, "This partnership represents a significant step in our content development strategy for the Western market. By leveraging our combined strengths, we are committed to delivering this studio's first game to a global audience."

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a CD Projekt Red veteran who served as the lead quest designer on The Witcher 3, joined Rebel Wolves earlier this year as the creative director. Dawnwalker is set to introduce a new franchise, as confirmed by Jakub Szamalek, co-founder and narrative director at Rebel Wolves, who previously worked as a writer at CDPR for over nine years. The game's scope is expected to be comparable to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion, offering a more non-linear narrative.

"We aim to create an experience that encourages varied choices and experimentation upon replay. Crafting this experience with such a talented team is my mission at Rebel Wolves, and I am eager for everyone to see what we've been working on," Tomaszkiewicz stated earlier this year.
