Get ready, fans of the Avatar universe! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have just unveiled an exciting new addition to the franchise: Avatar: Seven Havens. In honor of the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender, creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are back with another thrilling adventure. This new series will feature 26 episodes of 2D animation, centered around a young Earthbender who emerges as the next Avatar following Korra.
According to a press release from Nickelodeon, Avatar: Seven Havens unfolds in a world torn apart by a cataclysmic event. The young Earthbender protagonist discovers her destiny as the new Avatar, only to find that in this perilous new era, the title of Avatar marks her as a harbinger of destruction rather than salvation. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she must join forces with her long-lost twin to unravel their enigmatic past and safeguard the Seven Havens—the last bastions of civilization.
DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their enthusiasm about this new chapter, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
The series is set to be divided into two seasons, with Book 1 and Book 2 each comprising 13 episodes. Alongside DiMartino and Konietzko, executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi will co-create this new series. While no cast has been announced yet, anticipation is high for who will bring these new characters to life.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also hard at work on a feature-length animated movie set to release in theaters on January 30, 2026. This movie will follow an adult Aang on a fresh adventure, adding another layer to the beloved saga.
As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, Avatar Studios is launching an array of new content including books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game in Roblox, ensuring that fans have multiple ways to celebrate this significant milestone in the Avatar universe.
