AGDQ Raises Record-Breaking $2.5M for Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 million for cancer research.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefited from the Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, which ran from January 5th to 13th. The event raised over $2.5 million, a figure exceeding the 2024 total by more than $100,000. This significant contribution supports the foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness initiatives.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter speedrunning marathon, showcased a diverse range of games, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid. The event's success builds upon a long-standing partnership between GDQ and the Prevent Cancer Foundation, with over $26 million raised collectively through previous GDQ events.

A standout moment was a captivating 18-minute Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing the game's soundtrack. This unique performance generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling four-player randomized race of Super Metroid, showcasing the competitive spirit of speedrunning.

The Games Done Quick organization will continue its charitable efforts with Summer Games Done Quick 2025, scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders. This demonstrates GDQ's ongoing commitment to raising funds for worthy causes through its engaging speedrunning events. AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, began with a swift Pikmin run by Ray0ken.
